The Old Lodge

The Old Lodge, is an early 19th century gate house for a large Manor located near Cheltenham. The original building, had been extensively altered with a poor quality, unsympathetic, bradstone extension. The property although not in its original state, is locally listed due to its significance within the estate and its buildings. Our brief was to modernise and improve the living accommodation as well as external appearance, while respecting the original lodge. Throughout this project we looked to address the limited connection to the extensive gardens that surround the lodge, by creating continuous vistas throughout the new addition, from front to back and beyond. Planning permission was granted in 2018.
